The Role We Play

Why ArtWorks?

In the performing arts, organizations such as theater, ballet and opera companies provide artists with both opportunities to work with other performers, and a support group of administrative and technical staff.

That’s what ArtWorks Foundation and our events seek to do for the community of artists engaged in

3-D media, such as glass, metal, wood, clay & fiber. ArtWorks Foundation’s mission is helping these artists grow, in their business and their work, through programs including exhibitions and education initiatives: such as, scholarships for advanced study workshops at schools for Fine-Craft.

We are also aiming at establishing an endowment to fund Emergency Relief Grants to help area artists resume careers derailed by disasters or catastrophic illness. Longer term, we’d also like to build a Center for Fine-Craft, with studio and exhibition spaces.

History

ArtWorks Foundation grew out of a Holiday Artists’ Market, called WinterArts, first staged in 2009.  While this month-long presentation of work in a gallery setting remains ArtWorks Foundation’s largest undertaking, ArtWorks Foundation has also staged a number of two and three day art-fairs under trademarked titles including: Art Paired, Art Squared, art2wear, The Great Exposition, and Art in The Loop.  While WinterArts showcases top regional talent, ArtWorks Foundation’s other shows invite artists from around the nation: regional artists are, however, given preference

 when possible.

ArtWorks Foundation focuses the bulk of its efforts on creating events to serve artists engaged in 3-D media, such as: glass, metal, clay, wood, fiber, etc.  While some of our two and three day shows may include the work of painters & photographers, our chief interest lies in work created by 3-D artists; as well as, in educating the public about the skill and talent required to create the work presented, and inspiring artists to continue to seek out educational opportunities to further their knowledge of technique and process to strive for ever finer work.

FAQs

History

  • How can Artists become involved in ArtWorks Foundation shows? We accept applications for the majority of our shows via Zapplication.org.  Applications are reviewed by an independent jury of artists, collectors, and show directors from across the US; artists’ scores are evaluated on the basis of design and execution: talent, skill and presentation are considered. Successful applicants receive invitations to participate. Involvement in our Holiday Artists’ Market, WinterArts - on the other hand - is by invitation only.
  • How can supporters help ArtWorks Foundation in its mission? We love volunteers; you can become involved in helping to work with us at our shows to: set up & remove equipment; assist participating artists; or help generate public awareness. There are even opportunities to serve on our board of directors, or an advisory committee.  We are also grateful for donations to help fund our work; donations over $200 may be directed to underwrite a specific program.

You Can Help

Help us offer opportunities to Artists to expand their audience and their ability to support themselves through their work.  We invite you to make a donation: whether to honor or memorialize someone, or just to lend support; your contributions to ArtWorks Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law, and deeply appreciated by the artists we seek to serve.

You may direct gifts of over $200 to be used for specific programs, such as our scholarship fund, emergency relief endowment, or exhibition and building programs.
